40 Hari Bangkitnya Pocong
Sinopsis
“Back in 2000s, Indonesian horror films were packed with indigenous ghosts with vast of production values, filmmaking style, and popularity. The director's just known for his popular film Pocong 2 and around that time, has this peculiar style of filmmaking with 7 shooting days rule. So we must acknowledge this before watch and review the title. This movie certainly produced under the Pocong title and has few big young actors at that time. However, their name doesn't live up the expectations by its super cheap production values that is so obvious. From shaky handheld camera, lots of goofs, underdeveloped production design (aside from the car crash scene), unable to provide good jumpscares, making the question arises "Do they even committed to make this movie?"One of the reason I watch this movie twice (first in its release year), due to the whole plot, despite have many holes, gives many twist elements that still seldom used back in 2000s horror films in Indonesia. It's not that great but still a good thing compared to lots of ghost titles that offer nothing but jumpscares to the death. If the movie more committed to the production value and making the technical aspects better, this movie will be a great watchlist for those who enjoy cheap scares. Alas, the movie must suppress its budget or something so what's left is the subtle appreciation to the twist and that's not making all aspects here better.”
